The 50 year old renowned singer is survived by his wife, son and daughter. His death has come as a shock to his fans all over the country and as the news of Vijay Malla's death spread here thousands of his fans rushed to his residence to express their grief and shock. JK Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah expressed grief over the demise of Malla terming his death as a great loss to the artist fraternity and the society. They conveyed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. Former Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar, Bashir Arif called Malla as "an institution in himself". Adbee Markaz Kamraz has also expressed its condolences on Mallah's demise.
